We were commissioned by the Local Government Association to produce a marketing strategy for their Be a Councillor campaign. Be a Councillor aims to attract, encourage, and support more people from under-represented groups to become councillors and there will be a bespoke campaign for disabled people as part of the Support for Disabled Councillors/Candidates
We invited disabled people to contribute their views and experiences by taking part in our user testing and research activities. We produced an inclusive strategy that gave disabled people a chance to provide their insight into the barriers and issues they face when engaging in politics and secondly, encouraged them to be active contributors to facilitating change through this campaign.
Some of our collaborative organisations included Disability Labour, The Asian People’s Disability Alliance and Disabled Students UK who helped us shape an important strategy.
